Wie jedes Jahr wurden auch 2017 wieder die internationalen Motoren des Jahres gekürt. Die Krone ging dabei erneut an Ferrari, deren 3,9 Liter Biturbo-V8 aus dem 488 GTB haushoch gewann (251 Punkte). Platz Zwei ging an die neuen 3 Liter Turbo-Boxermotoren von Porsche (216 Punkte), die aktuell in diversen Leistungsstufen im 911er zum Einsatz kommen. Der dritte Stockerlplatz gehört BMW und ihrem 1,5 Liter Dreizylinder samt E-Motor (151 Punkte), der im i8 für Vortrieb sorgt.
